Field Trip: The Ironbound

Newark's Neighborhood Cultural Gem

Name: The Ironbound District

Address: A four-mile span between the Passaic River and Newark Liberty International Airport (approximately 0.8 miles from The Kislak Building)

The Ironbound district spans four square miles in the Newark’s East Ward, and is a hotspot for its specialty shops, markets, and high-end authentic Spanish, Portuguese, and Brazilian dining. We featured one of its restaurants, Adega Grill, in one of our previous posts, but the truth is that the entire Ironbound area is worth spending time getting to know. There’s a ton to do in Riverfront Park, which boasts a baseball field, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and a soccer field; the park also hosts waterfront yoga and boat tours in the Summer. We highly recommend spending at least one day getting lost in this gem of a neighborhood!
